Letter from our Founder

Dear Friends,

I’m Dr. Stefania Maggi, lead creator of the Luna Moth Circle, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to our community. As an advocate for children’s rights and youth mental health in the face of climate change, I’ve seen firsthand how eco-anxiety and extreme weather events—from wildfires to floods—are weighing heavily on hearts and minds across Canada and beyond. But I also know this: a positive outlook fueled by hope is not a passive endeavor. Rather, it is necessary to move forward, connect with nature and one another, and allow meaningful engagement and creativity.

That’s why the Luna Moth Circle exists. Our intergenerational initiative hopes to contribute to efforts of enhancing the capacity of communities to face the climate crisis with strength and compassion.

Whether you are an established professional, a student, an educator, a parent, or simply someone who cares about our planet’s future, here you will find resources to turn climate distress into meaningful engagement. Our new Micro-Credential in Climate Change and Youth Mental Health is just one example of how we’re equipping communities with tools to foster resilience, nature connection, and intergenerational collaboration.

As headlines remind us of the urgency ahead, we choose to focus on what we can do. In the words of Sarah Jaquette Ray1 “We are too small, but small is all”. In other words, there is not an action that is too small to be worth doing, especially when those actions bring us together.

With gratitude and hope,
Stefania.
